AUSTRALIA – MIGRATION SKILL ASSESSMENT

 

When entering Australia, you will have to provide proof of your skills under certain skilled migration visa programs. For anyone who is applying for a work or permanent residency visa should be aware of the Migration Skill Assessment.

 

WHAT IS THE SKILL ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS?

 

Before applying for a Point Tested Skilled Migration, you must select your occupation from the Skilled Occupation List. You should have evidence to present to the authority who conduct assessment as per your nominated occupation.

The validity of the Skill Assessment is valid till the date of expiry mentioned on the assessment, or 3 years from the date of issue has elapsed, which ever comes first.

 

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY PROVISIONAL ASSESSMENT?

 

The skill assessment for Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) is also known as a Provisional Assessment. This skill assessment is for gratuates who recently graduated from Australian educational institutions and are applying for a subclass 485 visa.

Though the requirements for this assessment is similar to the general migration assessment, the English Proficiency Test is an addition.

 

WHO ARE THE ASSESSING AUTHORITIES? WHAT IS THEIR ROLE IN FINDING EMPLOYMENT IN AUSTRALIA?

 

The list of the Assessment authorities are mentioned in the SOL (Skilled Occupation List) and CSOL (Consolidated Skilled Occupation List) provided by the Australian Immigration. Once you have filled in your application, you have to contact the relevant authority to assess your skills. These assessment authorities have their separate procedures, time period and charges as per their nominated sector.

 

WHAT ARE ANZSCO CODES?

 

ANZSCO (Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations) is statistically designed to organise data collected. The classifications based on the skills and experience that the individual provides during his application.
