Canada revamped its migration system to the newly introduced Canada Express Entry in January 2015. This system was introduced to make the whole migration process less time consuming and hassle free. The Canada Express Entry is now used to evaluate to assess the profile of applicants for permanent residency in Canada.

WHAT IS EXPRESS ENTRY?

Canada Express Entry is the first step taken while migrating to Canada. The Canada Express Entry system assesses the applications for visas like:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Skilled Trade Program
  • Canada Experience Class
  • Provincial Nominee Program (portion of it)

EXPRESS ENTRY CRITERIA

Applicants applying under the Canadian Express Entry system are evaluated based on certain parameters introduced in this system. These criteria are

  • Language proficiency Skills
  • Age
  • Educational Qualification
  • Work Experience
  • Job Sponsor
  • Skill Assessments, etc.

EXPRESS ENTRY COMPREHENSIVE RANKING SYSTEM

 

For the smooth functioning of the Express Entry System, the CIC has introduced a electronic system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). In this system, the applicant is rewarded points for their eligibility. This eligibility is based various factors like job sponsorship or a nomination from a state or territory in Canada, professional skills, etc.

 

The maximum an applicant can score under the Comprehensive Ranking System is 1200 points. These points are rewarded on these factors:

  • Skills and experience factors
  • Spouse or common-law partner factors
  • Skills transferability
  • Additionally, points areawarded for a job offer supported by

 

JOB OFFER

 

Applicants are ranked according to their score in the Comprehensive Ranking System. This enable the employers to choose the best candidates to fulfil their requirement. This selection is done irrespective of their time of application.

 

Once a candidate receives an employment offer from an Canadian Employer or state/territory, they have a time period of 60 days to accept or decline the job offer. On acceptance of offer, the candidate must file an application for permanent residency in Canada under the migration programs mentioned above.

 

INCASE YOU DON’T HAVE A JOB OFFER

In case an applicant does not receive an employment offer from a Canadian employer or state/territory, the applicant should get themselves registered with the Job bank of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). The Job bank has build a bridge between aspiring migrants and Canadian Employers. This enables Canadiam Employers to promote themselves as recruiters, job boards, etc.
